On March 4th at the Outreach and Technical Assistance Network Technical and Distance Learning Symposium 2021 (OTAN TDL), John Hollander represented the Institute for Intelligent Systems and the federally funded AutoTutor for Adult Reading Comprehension (AutoTutor-ARC). In a presentation titled “AutoTutor: Learning Literacy with an Intelligent Tutoring Aid", audience members learned what conversational agents are and how they can help adult learners. The audience also learned what AutoTutor looks like, viewed samples of the content, and explored how the system works with popular learning management systems, and offers teachers’ the ability to track students’ progress across lessons. Additionally, this presentation introduced how to roster students, use AutoTutor-ARC, assign lessons, and monitor learners’ progress.

AutoTutor-ARC is the focus of ongoing research. This presentation described the ultimate goals of AutoTutor-ARC and how your participation can help build a reliable, free educational resource for adult literacy programs.
